Fillers

Enjoy restored structure and skin volume with natural, non-animal injectable dermal fillers at My Klinik.

Dermal fillers that use proprietary HylacrossTM technology are non-animal, natural injectable gels which act as a skin “filler” to gently restore structure and volume to skin.

HylacrossTM dermal fillers are carefully injected beneath the skin’s surface to diminish the depth of facial folds and wrinkles, and define and enhance the lips.

The natural look and feel of smooth skin from HylacrossTM dermal fillers should last for 6–12 months.

Many people use a combination of cosmetic products and procedures to achieve their desired results. To discuss your treatment options, including dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle treatments and cosmetic plastic surgery, book a consultation with the experienced team at My Klinik.

Treatment with HylacrossTM dermal fillers is a non-surgical procedure. At My Klinik, cosmetic injector Dr Moulos will administer the gel through a few injections.

The procedure can be performed under local anaesthetic and should cause only minimal disruption to your daily routine. The majority of patients resume their normal activities immediately after treatment.

Our goal is to make your experience as easy and comfortable as possible — Dr Moulos and the My Klinik staff are always willing to answer any questions you may have.

Pre and Post-Operative Care

  • Notify Dr Moulos of any medications that you are currently taking and if you have a history of cold sores. He may recommend an anti-viral medication before your treatment.
  • Do not smoke for two weeks before and two weeks after your procedure. Smoking decreases blood flow to the skin and may delay the healing process.
  • Do not drink any alcohol for two days before and two days after your procedure as it can thin the blood and increase the chance of bruising.
  • Do not take any medication that contains aspirin, or any anti-inflammatory or herbal medication for two weeks before your procedure. Aspirin thins the blood, which can result in unnecessary blood loss during your procedure.
  • Avoid chemical peels and needling for seven days leading up to your appointment.
  • If you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the area 24 hours before your appointment, please call My Klinik to reschedule.
  • Immediately following your injections, your face will be cleaned. After this do not touch your face for six hours.
  • While you will be able to return to your normal routine immediately after the procedure, we recommend resting and applying an ice pack wrapped in a cloth to the injection area to minimise any swelling or bruising. Apply wrapped ice to the area for five minutes every half hour for up to six hours.
  • We recommend sleeping face up with your head slightly elevated for the first night.
  • Avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activity for two days.
  • Avoid extensive sun or heat for three days.
  • Avoid excess alcohol or salts as these can increase the chance of swelling.
  • Do not undergo other facial treatments such as waxing, laser or microdermabrasion for two weeks after treatment.
  • Make-up may be worn the day after the procedure.
  • Contact My Klinik if you experience any increasing pain, tenderness, bruising or other issues that appear to be getting worse.
  • You should have a review appointment with Dr Moulos two weeks after the procedure.

Dermal Fillers FAQs

Skin gets its youthful structure and volume from natural substances such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, which all decrease with ageing. The natural decline of these substances paired with environmental factors — such as exposure to sunlight, smoking and stress — contributes to how our skin ages.

As the body ages, the extremely thin outer layer of the lips becomes progressively thinner. Over time, the corners of the mouth may droop, the v-shaped area of the upper lip (also known as cupid’s bow) flattens out and lips can lose their youthful fullness. Vertical lip lines can also appear, causing your lipstick to bleed.

By treating the border of the upper and/or lower lips, dermal filler injectable gels enhance lip contours and definition. Lip volume can also be improved when injectables are used in the lip body. The results from dermal fillers that use proprietary HylacrossTM technology should last for 6–12 months.

Many facial wrinkles occur when we use our muscles to form facial expressions — these are dynamic wrinkles. When we are young our skin springs back to its initial position at rest but as we get older the wrinkles and folds formed during facial expressions remain on the skin.

The wrinkles and folds present at rest are called static wrinkles. This process occurs because natural substances that provide the skin with structure and volume, such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, decrease with age. The natural decline of these substances paired with environmental factors — such as exposure to sunlight, smoking and stress — contributes to the creation of wrinkles and folds.

Dermal filler injectable gel is placed below the skin’s surface to literally “fill in” or “plump up” the static facial wrinkles and folds that are present at rest, unlike wrinkle-relaxing injections that treat dynamic wrinkles by relaxing the muscles that produce wrinkle causing facial expressions. Dermal filler treatment is used to diminish the depth of wrinkles and create a smoother, refreshed facial appearance that should last for 6–12 months.

Dermal fillers are made from a natural complex sugar called hyaluronic acid (HA), which is found naturally within the tissues of living cells, including human skin. By attracting and holding water, HA assists in skin hydration and helps support skin structure and elasticity in combination with collagen and elastin.

Treatment with HylacrossTM dermal fillers is a non-surgical procedure. At My Klinik, cosmetic injector Dr Moulos will administer the gel through a few injections.

The procedure can be performed under local anaesthetic, takes about 45 mins and should cause only minimal disruption to your daily routine. The majority of patients resume their normal activities immediately after treatment.

After the procedure, it may take four to seven days for the results to appear. While results will differ for everyone, the results should last for six months to one year, or up to six months for a treatment of the lips. Many patients choose to have follow-up sessions every 6–12 months.

Clinical trials have shown that HylacrossTM dermal fillers are well tolerated. As the HA in the dermal fillers is naturally present within the skin, and not derived from animals, there should be no need for an allergy test before treatment.

The injections should cause minimal discomfort. Some temporary side effects at the injection site may be experienced, such as swelling, bruising and redness. Less frequently, temporary pain, firmness, lumps, itching and discolouration can also occur at the injection site. The majority of patients resume their normal activities immediately after treatment.

Many people use a combination of cosmetic products and procedures to achieve their desired results. To discuss your treatment options, including dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle treatments and cosmetic plastic surgery, book a consultation with the experienced team at My Klinik.
